The towing capacity of the BMW 530d supports up to 2100kg. This is a braked figure, while the maximum load for any vehicle without using trailer brakes is 750kg, if rated to tow that much in the first place.
It's usually under 200 lbs whereas braked trailer limits are very near 4,000 lbs. I've towed with my E36 318ti for many years. Its limits for an unbraked trailer are 1366 lbs & 165 lbs on the tounge. Even for that 138 HP car, it's hard to tell you're even towing anything of around 1,000 lbs or less.

This BMW 5 Series E61 530d Touring Edition Exclusive xDrive Automatic model was produced in the period between 09/2008 and 07/2010 model years. Equipped with straight 6 diesel engine with 2993 ccm capacity it produces 235 Hp and 173 kW power at 4000 rpm and 500 Nm torque at 1750 rpm with top claim speed 233 km/h and acceleration 0-100 km/h in 7,0 sBMW 530d confirmed as latest Victoria Police highway patrol car.
