The air bag light (and all the other warning lights) come on for a brief period when you first turn the key to ON. This is to show you the lights are functioning. If you're scanning the air bag module and it's coming up with no codes, then nothing is wrong as far as the built in diagnostics can tell.
The passenger side airbag is a lot easier then driver side. Take the glove box out and you will see two 10mm bolts holding it in place. When you open the passenger side front door, remove the panel on the side of the dash and you will see yellow connectors.The 1 closest to the front is attached to the air bag, it is clipped into the frame.

The Airbag light, Traction Control light, ABS light, Tire Pressure light (amber blinking), and the power steering system light (steady amber) all came on and remained on. After a short while they went out.

The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated the that while the vehicle was idling, there was an abnormal clicking sound detected. Nov 11, 2008. #8. You can go to Address 19 - CAN gateway and subtract the airbag value from the coding. Pull the airbag supply fuse to prevent CAN messages from reaching the cluster and causing the CAN gateway to throw a "module incorrectly coded" fault (though there will be no warning lamp).
